How to Convert Tamil Fonts

  1. 1

    Open the Font Converter

Go to the Font Converter page. You'll see two panels: an input area on the left and a formatted output on the right.

  2. 2

    Select Your Source Font

Choose the font encoding of your original text — for example, Bamini if your document uses the Bamini font, or TSCII for TSCII-encoded content. If you're unsure, try Bamini first as it is the most common legacy Tamil font.

  3. 3

    Paste Your Text & Convert

Paste or type your text into the input box. The conversion happens instantly — the Unicode output appears in the right panel in real time. You can also type in Tanglish (English phonetics) and the tool will auto-convert to Tamil Unicode as you type.

  4. 4

    Copy or Download

Click Copy to copy the converted Unicode text to your clipboard, or use the Notebook's download options to save it as a TXT, HTML, or Word (.docx) file.

About FontConvertor.in

Why Tamil Font Conversion Matters

Tamil has been written using many different digital encodings over the past three decades. Documents created in Bamini, TSCII, TAM, or SenTamil appear as garbled characters on modern systems unless the specific font is installed. Converting to Unicode fixes this permanently — Unicode Tamil text renders correctly on every modern device and platform.

Tanglish to Tamil Typing

Type Tamil using English letters (Tanglish) with real-time transliteration. Our smart word engine suggests the correct Tamil Unicode output as you type, making it easy to compose Tamil text on any keyboard — no special Tamil keyboard layout needed.

Tamil Font Downloader

Browse and download free Tamil fonts including Bamini, SenTamil, Vanavil, TSCII and hundreds of Google Fonts for Tamil, Hindi, Telugu, Malayalam and other Indian languages. All fonts are free for personal and commercial use.

Text to Image Generator

Create beautiful images from Tamil or English text with full control over fonts, colors, gradients, shadows, alignment and canvas size. Download as PNG, JPG or SVG — perfect for social media posts, banners, wedding invitations, quotes and announcements.

Common Questions

Is FontConvertor.in free?

Yes. All font conversions, Tanglish typing, font downloads, and text-to-image features are completely free. A one-time Pro upgrade is available to remove ads.

Does my text get uploaded to your server?

No. All processing — font conversion, transliteration, and image generation — happens entirely inside your browser. Your text never leaves your device.

Which font should I choose if I'm not sure?

Bamini is the most widely used legacy Tamil font. Try selecting Bamini first. If the output is incorrect, try SenTamil or TSCII next until the converted text looks right.

Can I convert Unicode back to Bamini or TSCII?

Yes. Select Unicode as the source font and your desired legacy font as the output. Bidirectional conversion is supported for all 18+ font formats.
