What fonts can I convert? We support 18+ legacy Tamil fonts including Bamini, SenTamil, TSCII, TAM, SunTommy, SunSuraj, Vanavil, Shree Lipi, Amudham, TAB Anna, Kurinji, Ka Lagaram, Tam Shakti, KOLLT, MCL Mangai, LT-TM Semparuthi, Stmzh, and Chenet Unicode. All can be converted to and from Unicode (UTF-8).
Is this tool free to use? Yes, the core font conversion, Tanglish typing, and font download features are completely free. A one-time Pro upgrade is available to remove ads and unlock cloud sync.
What is Tanglish typing? Tanglish is typing Tamil words using English letters (romanised Tamil). For example, typing 'vanakkam' auto-converts to 'வணக்கம்'. Our tool intelligently recognises Tamil words as you type and delivers highly accurate conversions.
Does voice typing work in all browsers? Voice typing works in Chrome, Safari (iOS & macOS), and Edge. It is not supported in Firefox. In Brave, you need to disable Brave Shields for the site to allow the browser's speech recognition to function.
Can I use this on mobile? Yes, the site is fully responsive and works on mobile browsers. The font converter, notebook, and font downloader all work on mobile. Voice typing on iOS requires Safari.
How do I download a converted font file? Go to the Font Downloader page, find the font you want, and click 'Download TTF'. Install the .ttf file on your computer or device to use it in your documents.
Are my texts saved or stored anywhere? Text you type is saved locally in your browser (so it survives page refreshes). Font conversion and text editing happen entirely within your browser. We do not store your text on our servers.
What is the Notebook feature? The Notebook is a rich-text editor built into the Font Converter page. You can compose, format, and save text. It supports bold, italic, underline, text alignment, highlights, colours, font sizes, and download as TXT, HTML, or Word document.
How does cloud sync / login work? Cloud sync (login feature) is coming soon. It will let you sign in with Google and access your notebooks from any device — phone, tablet, or desktop.
What is the Pro plan? Pro is a one-time purchase that removes all ads and includes priority support. When cloud sync launches, Pro users will get it included. There are no recurring fees.
My converted text looks garbled — what went wrong? Make sure you selected the correct source font. If a document uses Bamini encoding but you select TSCII, the output will be wrong. Try different source fonts until the output looks correct.
Can I report a bug or suggest a feature? Yes! Use the Feedback button in the header. We read every submission and aim to respond to bugs within 48 hours.
